Chart notes
CLOSE CALL took a bump from SIX IRON, then rebounded into FINAL BET, was slow into stride after that, but moved up four-wide to pull even with the leaders near the five-sixteenths marker, took the lead in upper stretch and went clear late under steady handling. FINAL BET raced in the middle of the pack through the early stages, became boxed in before the half-mile pole, then advanced under a drive four wide on the turn, stalled out a little in upper stretch but found another gear late and rallied to gain the second spot. STEPBROTHERAUSTIN made the front from the start and set a pressured pace to the turn, dueled with SNOWMAGEDDON then CLOSE CALL through the turn, kept on well but outfinished in the final furlong. SNOWMAGEDDON was floated wide after the start, tracked four-wide up close down the backstretch, moved up to bid for the lead approaching the three-furlong pole, vied between horses in to the stretch, was no match for the winner, and was outkicked for a minor award. SIX IRON veered out at the start, taking out CHIVATO and CLOSE CALL, raced close up, steadied approaching the half-mile pole, then was stuck behind horses early on the turn, loomed a threat in upper stretch, but could not find the winning kick and finished evenly. MAGICAL MAX veered out at the start, taking SNOWMAGEDDON wide, pressed the pace three-wide, then weakened on the turn. PEA EYE pressed the early pace from the inside, then weakened midway through the turn. CHIVATO took up when SIX IRON came over and took the path at the start, was last away and never factored.
