Chart notes
MCCREADY walked out of the gate at the start, then was unhurried in last position through the clubhouse turn, advanced past all but ANDOLIN in the run down the backstretch, then confronted that rival approaching the quarter pole, engaged in a spirited battle down the stretch, then edged ahead in the final yards to prevail. ANDOLIN broke sharply, seized the early advantage, and was able to slow down the pace, quickened when MCCREADY made a bid on the far turn, engaged that rival in a duel through the stretch, then came up short in a game effort. RENOVATOR got a good break but ceded the lead to ANDOLIN, settled in a stalking position two-wide, maintained position to the far turn, then was a little slow to quicken when the pace picked up late on the far turn, made a nice late bid but was too late. HARRY O settled in mid-pack to the inside, waited through the far turn with no clear path available, made a late bid up the inside, then surged in the final yards and just missed in a tight finish. BEEKMAN STREET tracked close up inside behind the pacesetter, had to wait for room late on the far turn, then was unable to take advantage when a gap appeared, then got stuck behind horses late and steadied to the finish. KRAVITZ got caught four-wide on the first turn, settled in the middle of the pack in cover, made a three-wide bid into the stretch, then went a little flat and was unable to contest the finish. MICKEYMAC raced near the back of the pack, saved ground to the far turn, then did not kick on with the rest and was unable to threaten. FIRST OFFICER steadied going into the first turn when a bit rank, settled three-wide down the backstretch, made a mild bid when the pace quickened on the far turn but was unable to keep up late.
