Chart notes
JUST FOR THE MONEY was quickest into stride, took the early lead, then went clear passing the half-mile pole, opened up on the turn, got a little short in the final furlong but held clear under steady handling and urging. EPITAPH chased JUST FOR THE MONEY from the start, was able to close the margin in the final yards, but ran out of time. MINISTER initially vied three-deep for the early lead, was unable to keep pace through the turn, but kept to task late, came five-wide into the stretch, and gained and held third. HASTEN walked out of the gate at the start, spotting the field a big head start, rallied from far back and managed to split the field. HAWKSTONE outpaced early, then lacked a late bid. HOT STOTT tracked five-wide down the backstretch, then went four-wide through the turn and was unable to threaten. TWENTY ONE KID raced at the back of the main pack early, saved ground throughout, but faltered in the stretch.
