Chart notes
AMERICAN CAUSE hustled away from the gate at the start, tucked in behind the speed coming out of the clubhouse turn, launched a three-wide bid with three furlongs to run, finished best under steady handling and urging, gained the advantage inside the furlong pole and pulled clear in the end. BOURBON LIFE was caught four wide racing near the back of the field on the first turn, came under a ride from the three-furlong marker, swung four-to five-wide into the stretch, sustained the bid through the stretch, and got up for 2nd. LEMON DROP SHOT bobbled slightly coming out of the gate, then raced at the back early on, moved up closer late on the backstretch run, dropped to the rail through the turn and started to run on, steadied leaving the five-sixteenths marker, then rebid into the stretch, had the path blocked mid-stretch, altered course to the three-path then continued to close ground in the final yards. GENERAL ISSUE (FR) was off a step slow, hustled to get a good position early, tracked close up to the pace for the first half-mile, made a mild late bid that went a bit flat in the last sixteenth. BIGFOOT SIGHTING broke outward and made light contact with INDIE FREEDOM, managed to win the race to the first turn, then settled on the lead, attempting to slow the pace, held sway to the far turn, went into a full-out drive approaching the quarter pole and under threat from AMERICAN CAUSE, kept on well to deep stretch, then weakened. MYSTIC POWER was put in tight going into the clubhouse turn, chased througout and failed to menace. ICONICUS got squeezed on both sides after the break, then lost the path and steadied going into the first turn, was unhurried and settled inside of a trio at the back early, and never managed a late bid. INDIE FREEDOM was unprepared for the start and broke flat-footed, then took a light bump from BIGFOOT SIGHTING, was sent aggressively three wide to bid for the early lead, settled in behind BIGFOOT SIGHTING going down the backstretch, started to weaken before the stretch, and was uninvolved in the late stages. THERE WAS A STEWARD INQUIRY INTO THE INCIDENT NEAR THE 3/8 POLE INVOLVING THREE HORSES, THE #4-6-7. AFTER A LENGTHY REVIEW THE ORIGINAL RESULTS WERE ALLOWED TO STAND.
