Chart notes
LIONISTIC got pinballed at the start and was last away but always close up through the early stages, tracked four-wide down the backstretch, circled the field on the turn, hit the front at the top of the stretch with a lot of momentum, and went clear. LUCKY COUGAR made the lead and set a pressured pace to the turn, opened up a bit leaving the three-furlong pole, then was challenged by LIONISTIC near the quarter pole, was unable to go on with that on from upper stretch, but kept to task and finished up well to hold second. LADY WELLINGTON pressed the pace from the rail through the initial stages, waited through the turn without a clear path, got clear in the stretch and finished with interest but was unable to threaten the top pair. TIMELY SECRET raced between horses at the back of the compact field, bid three-wide into the stretch but lacked a finish. HARTFUL HOPE raced between horses and was always up on the pace, steadied approaching the quarter pole, and was unable to recover. SHEISTHEHERO vied three-wide for the lead to the turn, weakened passing the five-sixteenths marker, and tired in the stretch.
