Chart notes
CHAPTER AND VERSE came away well and settled behind the pacesetting duo, launched a bid from the three-furlong pole but was not making much headway on the leader until upper stretch, made the front inside the furlong pole, was getting short in the final yards but held on. FIVEMINUTSOFPASION broke off balance and brushed with CHAPTER AND VERSE at the start, steadily advanced through the middle stages, went three-wide through the turn, then swung five-wide into the stretch, was closing the gap late, but ran out of time. SOLO SURPRISE was allowed to settle from the break, dropped to last down the backstretch, then advanced on the turn under a ride, was outkicked to the wire by the top two, but improved to gain the third prize. CALCOLERY was forced out wide by AZTEC MELODY at the start, then dueled with that rival to the turn, got the advantage passing the seven-sixteenths marker, opened up late on the turn, then gave way when challenged in upper stretch. AZTEC MELODY broke out at the start, bothering CALCOLERY, made the lead but was soon joined by that same rival to press the issue to the outside, gave way early on the turn, tried to come back up the rail in the stretch, but was outfinished. STELLA E VELOCE hopped at the start, settled mid-pack on the inside, struggled to keep pace on the turn, and was outrun in the late stages.
