Chart notes
TIGER BY THE TAIL hard to load; settled well off the pace through the early stages, tipped out five-wide and was still with much to do at the top of the stretch but found best stride in the final furlong to get up in the last jumps. CHIEF RENEGADE showed good speed from the break and got inside position, dueled with POCO YOU through the early stages, shook free of that one in upper stretch, and opened a clear lead but could not hold off the winner. REACH HIGHER was under a drive to keep up from the start, made a late bid up the rail in the stretch, moved into third, but could not threaten the top two. COME HOME broke well, tracked the pacesetters wide down the backstretch, launched a three-wide bid approaching the quarter pole, but was outkicked in deep stretch. PONDEROSA got pinballed at the start, chased from near the rear of the field, swung five-wide into the stretch, lugged in, and was mildly gaining ground late. TOWHEE lacked any early foot, kept to the inside, closed ground in the late stages but was not doing enough. POCO YO was hard to load and fractious in the gate, got bumped off stride at the start, but managed to get to the front, dueled with CHIEF RENEGADE through the turn, then weakened in upper stretch. BADGERS FACE broke inward and bumped PONDEROSA at the start, dropped to the back of the field and was badly outrun the rest ot the way.
