Chart notes
NIGHT BIRDIE steadily advanced after a bit of a slow start, pulled even with the dueling leaders at the quarter pole, met no resistance at the top of the stretch, responded when set down, and drew well clear of the rest in the final furlong. HERO QUEEN was allowed to settle, then made a middle move on the inside through the turn and finished up well to gain the place. RACHEL'S KID was outpaced early the moved up four wide on the turn, finished up well under steady handling and intermittent urging to gain third. SOMETHINGTOSAY raced four-wide in the middle of the pack and went evenly. RUBY RIVER dueled inside of DADDY'S LIL CHEF, gave way midway through the turn, and went evenly through the stretch. TRISH hopped in the air at the start, moved up into contention on the turn, bid five-wide into the stretch but flattened out and was unable to threaten. LAST CALL JENNA was close up in the initial stages but dropped back heading into the turn and was uninvolved in the stretch run. DADDY'S LIL CHEF veered out at the start, then dueled with RUBY RIVER early, gained an advantage midway through the turn, then weakened in upper stretch and faded late. AMERICAN TOAST was last early, steadily lost ground on the field down the backstretch, and was eased to the wire, was later reported to have bled and was transported back to the barn in the equine ambulance. After initially being reported as having bled, upon further veterinarian examination it was determined that AMERICAN TOAST sustained an injury and did not bleed. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING. AFTER A BRIEF REVIEW NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
