Chart notes
TOUGH AS AN OX was roused from the break to get forward position, was always close up then boxed in late on the turn, tried to split horses at the top of the stretch but lost the path, angled out to the four-path, finished strong but still had much to do, surged late, and was just up in the last jumps. ALPINE SERMON was allowed to settle after the start, advanced three-wide on the turn to loom a big threat at the top of the stretch, battled gamely to the wire but came up short in the last jumps. MANZONI vied three-wide for the early lead, then took command passing the seven-sixteenths marker, was between horses in a three-way drive to the wire, kept on well to the wire but came up just short in a solid try. DOMINATE hustled to the front early, was overtaken by MANZONI past the seven-sixteenths marker, battled back through the turn, was still in contention in mid-stretch, but weakened a bit in the final furlong. JIMMY'S WILD BOY tracked behind the early pace, came under a stiff ride to keep up through the turn, gave a good effort but was outfinished in the final furlong. EXTREMELY WICKED dropped back to last after an even beginning but not far from the front, chased to the stretch and finished with interest but could not improve.
