BERTANI off step slow, tracked early pace inside, loomed to the quarter marker, took command to upper stretch, drifted out under firm left handed urging in the drive, crowded outer foes into the final sixteenth, dug in into deep stretch and lasted for the win. WEST OF ME settled outside, tracked four wide to the quarter, bid to upper stretch then vied into the final furlong, was crowed by BERTANI while battling that rival into deep stretch and just missed for the win at the wire, while besting the rest. MAN OF MISCHIEF broke alertly, contested pace two then three wide into the turn, battled between rivals into upper stretch, was caught in tight and checked nearing the final sixteenth, yielded to the top pair late and was an easy third. CHAMPAGNE LANE broke in and was off a step slowly, recovered to track the early pace from between runners, chased two wide to the quarter pole, angled to the four path in upper stretch, angled back in for the stretch drive but lacked a final response. PEVS DISTANT DRUM settled in the early running, saved ground into the turn, kept an inside path to the stretch and did not rally late. I'LLHAVEANOTHERWON hopped at the start, rushed up to contest the early pace from the two path, vied between rivals nearing the quarter marker, gave way to upper stretch and could not find more in the late stages. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN. THE STEWARDS DETERMINED BERTANI DRIFTED OUT SEVERAL PATHS THROUGH THE STRETCH AND IMPEDED BOTH WEST OF ME AND MAN OF MISCHIEF, COSTING THOSE RIVALS THE OPPORTUNITY OF A BETTER PLACING. BERTANI WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FIRST AND PLACED THIRD.
