Chart notes
CALICOCO had good speed from the break, pressed the early pace set by HOUSE BOURBON two-wide to the half, put a head in front late on the far turn, got some pushback from that rival, gained a narrow advantage in upper stretch, was then beset but challengers on both sides in deep stretch but dug in gamely and held both at bay to the finish. STAR ROCK STAR tracked along the rail behind the pace, tipped out to the three-path for the stretch run, found best stride late, closed in, and just missed. SLICK AND FAST was always prominent towards the inside, kicked on well in the final furlong, but came up short. MAGNOLIA WEST settled inside near the back, stayed to the inside, and was mildly gaining in the late stages. HOUSE BOURBON raced on or near the early lead, battled gamely to the deep stretch, then gave way. UP N GONE settled in mid-back towards the inside, finished willingly, but was not good enough. HIGHLAND CREEK was three-wide in mid-field, and finished evenly. JEFFROW was the trailer to the stretch, then passed tired foes. TAKE CHARGE J J settled near the rear, came five-wide into the stretch, and was outkicked. SWEET TALKIN SLICK tracked four to five wide through the early stages, then did not produce a rally.
