Chart notes
GOLD GUNNER was unhurried in the back and saved ground, swung five paths wide entering the lane, responded willingly when called upon, swept in the final furlong and finished going away. HISTORIC stalked the leader up the backstretch, advanced to challenge rival two wide at the quarter pole, seized command turning for home, widened to a clear advantage a furlong out but failed to be a match when confronted by the winner. CROOKED AS CAN BE raced in range, ran on two wide around the turn, hustled along two wide down the lane and prevailed for a share. TRAFALGAR'S HERO hustled up out of the gate and briefly raced in range along the rail, weakened upon entering the turn, stayed inside into the upper stretch, asked for more but failed to move on. TITLE CONTENDER settled in early stages, hustled along three to four wide late on the turn and lacked a needed rally in the lane. MIDNIGHT WHIRL grabbed the lead soon after the start and set the early pace, took on the challenge from HISTORIC approaching the quarter pole, got collared turning for home and gave way. ROCKNSOCKCONECTION tracked the early pace, remained in contention three wide around the turn then steadily faded.
