Chart notes
STAY BEAUTIFUL settled just behind the pacesetter while under restraint, was let loose at the half-mile pole, went clear on the far turn, began shortening strides in deep stretch as challengers closed on both sides, then found a bit more in the final yards to prevail in a game effort. RED BERETTA hustled away but was not quick enough to join the early pace battle, tracked in mid-pack, launched a strong bid in the final furlong, appeared to have the measure of STAY BEAUTIFUL in the final yards, but was denied in the final strides. CLAY BASKET was unhurried early, raced wide on the first turn, settled near the back to the far turn, then began to advance under steady handling, swung four-wide into the stretch, closed well late but ran out of time. BALLYBAY BEAUTY howed good early speed, was left to dictate the pace, surrendered the lead to STAY BEAUTIFUL near the three-furlong pole, fought back along the rail in the stretch, but was outfinished in the closing stages. GOLEXGO missed the break and spotted the field a sizable advantage, was kept to task through the stretch, and outfinished one rival late. SPUN TO PURFECTION tracked in the middle of the field, and lacked a rally.
