CONVO raced up close outside the top trio, bid three deep at the five-sixteenths pole, dueled into the final furlong, put a head in front past the sixteenth pole and won the bob over HIGH SOCIETY U on the line. HIGH SOCIETY U scrambled leaving the gate but quickly recovered, stalked the leaders from off the rail, waited two then three wide around the bend, tipped widest at the top of the stretch, bid three deep midstretch and got the worst of the bob to narrowly miss. CHERRY CIDER vied between rivals up the backstretch, dueled inside past the three-eighths marker, fought with outer pair late on the bend, dueled with CONVO into the final furlong still holding a slim advantage, battled into deep stretch and yielded grudgingly late. STREET SWINDLER went up to challenge inside a pair of rivals, failed to keep up with outer trio past the three-eighths pole, saved ground to the stretch, chased within range to the sixteenth pole and flattened late. FIRST OR LAST vied three deep to the turn, dueled outside CHERRY CIDER past the three-eighths pole, fought between rivals late on the turn, yielded in upper stretch and weakened in the furlong grounds. SLICE hopped slightly to come away slow, angled to the inside trailing the field, passed a rival around the bend, chased a bit off the rail into the lane and failed to menace. BANZAI BETTY dropped off the pace early, raced outside SLICE on the turn, trailed into the stretch and was never a factor.
