Chart notes
NEOKING prompted the pace for three-quarters, rallied to threaten at the eighth pole, was turned away by a stubborn pacesetter and re-bid late surging from between rivals to be up in time in a determined effort. PERSISTEN stalked the pace to the top of the lane, angled four wide to the clear, rallied steadily on the outside to be gaining in the late stages and was denied on the wire in a good try. DRUNK ON SAKE set the pace while well rationed on a measured lead, responded willingly when challenged in upper stretch, vied through the lane gamely and gave way grudgingly in the final fifty yards. ICE TIME went evenly proving to be no factor.
