Chart notes
STUNNINGLY PERFECT broke a step slowly and in a bit tight, was coaxed forward inside and pressed the leader past the half, contended at the quarter pole, took a narrow lead about mid-stretch and edged clear under steady urging. SARAYU quickly went to the lead from outside, was overtaken after the opening three-sixteenths and settled to press from outside, went three wide into the turn taking the lead past the three-eighths, was challenged by an inside foe leaving the turn, could not keep pace with that one but was clearly second best. MATOAKA angled in early, moved up a bit along the inside, saved ground on the turn, was no match for the top pair but best of the rest. TEA BISCUIT stalked mid-pack, raced between foes in the second group on the turn, came into upper stretch six wide, ran on but needed more. WHITEMUDWEST moved to the lead by the five- and one-half to set the pace from off the rail, vied between foes into the turn and was encouraged along when challenged inside and out past the seven-sixteenths, weakened. CHAMPAGNE SUNDAY pursued from outside going four to five wide on the turn, failed to rally. TWEETERNITY chased the pace, dropped back between foes, shifted in, failed to rally.
